Computer Guidance Systems

Genesee has multiple computer-based guidance systems to help you decide which career path is right for you.

SIGI 3 (System of Interactive Guidance and Information) is a computer-based guidance system developed by the Educational Testing Service. However, a computer background is not necessary to utilize SIGI 3. SIGI 3 assists individuals who might be having difficulty identifying career goals. The system covers all the major aspects of career planning and decision making. In addition, there are over 600 links to the Internet providing career and college information.

FOCUS 2 is a career assessment designed to assist you with your career and educational plans. The various sections of FOCUS 2 will help you assess your interests, values, and educational preferences. In addition, you will be able to:

  • Obtain career information on the jobs/occupations you are considering
  • Take stock of your career and educational planning needs.
  • Assess your interests, work values, and educational preferences.
  • Discover and explore occupations, educational programs, and career paths that satisfy your personal attributes.
  • Map out career and educational goals, action plans and personal development needs.
  • Prepare for a conference with a career counselor.
